Biodynamic: Wine or moonshine?

Biodynamic: Wine or moonshine?

Planting vines based on lunar rhythms. Dandelion compost preparations. Cow horns filled with manure buried on the equinox.  Is it all a bunch of bull? Or are biodynamic wines more expressive of the soil they come from and the stars that twinkle above them?

Top wine makers all over the world from Domaine Leflaive (Puligny Montrachet, Burgundy) to Benziger (California) are embracing biodynamic principles in their vineyards.

Critics say it’s lunacy. Proponents say it creates a self-sustaining living system which is eco-friendly, as there are no nasty pesticides and chemicals used.  And no chemicals means no hangovers. Right?

So, until you decide for yourself, put down your milk thistle extract and throw away your bacon sarnie. I think you’ll find your horoscope has told you to keep this date free.

On Tuesday 28 October The Tasting Sessions have partnered with the Riflemaker Gallery to create a dramatic backdrop of contemporary art from some of London’s best-known, and emerging artists at Rochelle Street School.

We’ve enlisted the help of California’s Joe McCanta – international mixologist and sommelier  – who will provide a mini-masterclass on organic and biodynamic wines.  Our good friends at Corney & Barrow distributors and Bibendum have helped us pull together an impressive list of biodynamic and organic wines which are sure to rock your world.

A few of the exhibiting artists will also be present to explain the inspiration behind their work.  After a couple of glasses you may even want to participate in Yoko Ono’s performance piece.

If you have any questions about biodynamic wine that you’d like answered on the night, drop us an email or fill in the form on the WTF page of our website (yes, you know what it stands for).
