Facing East: 02 December, 08

There is something about Japanese culture which pushes the boundaries of cool. From Gothic Lolita to Comme des Garçons, there is something for everyone.
Here at The Tasting Sessions, we are far from conformist. So, while everyone else is sipping their champagne in London on 02 December, we will be hosting a wild night of Sake tasting and modern Japanese culture.
Sake has steadily been gaining popularity outside of Japan, exports are booming. But, like traditional wine Sake can be exceptionally good or just plain awful.
Let The Tasting Sessions be your guide – our unique and interesting selection, created with expert Wakana Omija, will show you how to appreciate the difference whilst simultaneously improving your karaoke voice.
In the spirit of mixing things up we have opted for urban Clerkenwell venue, Life - a unique Japanese sub-culture in zone 1. This is certainly not a traditional tasting venue but one even Astro Boy would be comfortable sipping Sake in.
If you’re worried about a night just on the Sake, don’t. The crew at Life have sorted us with plenty Kirin beer and some life-infused cocktails to send us on, what is sure to be, a promising Eastern adventure.
